The fridge side had climbed into the fifties while the freezer stayed rock solid. He pulled the rear panel and found the evaporator fan on that side had quit. Our kitchen in the Walking District is a galley and he worked around us without moving the unit.
Three blocks up from the sand and I'd never had the lower grille off in twelve years here. Both sides had gone warm. What came out of the coil looked like gray felt. He combed it out, checked the fan bearing, and it was holding by dinner.
We're only down at weekends, so nobody had opened the wine cabinet in a month. Panel read right, but the inside of the glass was beading and a couple of labels were ruined. Door seal and the heater in the pane. Turning it colder had been making it worse.
